2012 Wrap-up

As 2012 is quickly drawing to a close, it is a good time to look back over the year and see where we shined and those few instances where we, uh, could have shined more brightly.  Actually, it has been a very good year with several projects making it through the design, prototyping and acceptance phases.  They are now in the production tooling phase with production parts scheduled to be delivered shortly into 2013.  I can hardly wait to tell you about them, but must abide by the Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) in force.  However, once they are on the store shelves, I will be free to discuss them at length.  Definitely stand by.

For one of these new products though which is in production, although not yet on store shelves, I have the owner’s permission to talk about it to my heart’s content.  This is one of those products where, as soon as you see it, you will roll you eyes, slap your forehead with your palm and ask, “Why didn’t I think of that?”  This product is called “Umbrella-Lok.”  It is a special clamp made to secure the stand of your umbrella / table to your wooden deck, regardless of how windy it might get.  No more tables and umbrellas “flying” across your deck because of heavy wind gust action.  If you leave the umbrella open during heavy winds, you might find out that your umbrella gets shredded and destroyed, but the base will stay secured to your deck.  If it is so windy that your whole deck blows away, I’ll bet that it blows away with the umbrella base still firmly attached to it!

If you go to my website, EngineeringDesignSolutions.com and click on the Gallery tab at the top of the Home Page, and then click on the last picture in the Assembly Gallery section, you will see it.  Of course, it is designed to securely clamp any kind of surface, smooth or rough, with a cushioned pad that will not scrape or mar the paint of your umbrella stand.  And if you want to remove or relocate your umbrella, no tools are required to disassemble the Umbrella-Lok.  It’s really a great product.

At this time I would like to thank all of my satisfied customers for the faith they have in me and the work I do for them.  It really is appreciated.  But even more so, I want to thank those customers who referred me to their associates who needed some assistance with their product design work or tooling / manufacturing issues.  I am humbled by the confidence shown in me and will always work to show you that you faith in me and my work was well placed.

Let’s wrap up 2012 in style and hit the deck in 2013, with the engine running at the peak of the torque curve, and start the New Year off smokin’.  I look forward to new projects from you in the New Year and the continuation and successful conclusion of current projects.  Big or small, we do it all.

Have a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!
